For the Pelicans, Malone was never an option. If it's not Borrego, the two names constantly tied with them have been Mosely or Ham. I have not heard credible reports of any others. Now Mosely or Ham have to want to come to New Orleans and there's many jobs that are about to open

Pelicans have the 3rd best shot quality since 2013-14 according to my model, but 8th worst shot in that same timeframe. Potatoes on mars is an apt reference.

That was a bad call, Zion's foot speed and explosiveness neutralized his elite gifts 25 feet from the basket. He going to the rim, meet him there and put someone else on ball.

@FearTheBrown I know results are that matters and that it’s not smart to judge based on a small sample size, but I like A LOT of what I’ve seen from Borrego with a roster I thing isn’t good. I worry that he’s gonna take most of the blame and this roster is more intact than I’d like next season

There’s belief around the league that the Pelicans could essentially trade Zion Williamson for cap relief, similar to how the Hawks parted ways with Trae Young.
New Orleans, who’s expected to assess Williamson’s value, may ultimately seek a deal centered around expiring contracts in return for the franchise star.

The Pels would have also had that benefit if they kept him on the roster.

@adstock13 @pelsrbetta I don’t think there’s a consistent answer is the issue. They have INTERESTING guys at the guard/big spots but not a star guy you depend on every night. The way the roster is right now if someone isn’t on a heater you might not have an answer any given night.

@pelsrbetta The pelicans need to decide on a finishing 5. Poole as the only guard is a questionable lineup. He is not much of a facilitator. He is a make or miss guy who misses a lot. I think Fears is the right guy but if not, Jose. Maybe Murray when he gets back.

It’s become very trendy to crap on the Group of 5 programs. But Tulane and JMU had phenomenal seasons and should be applauded.
But at the same time it is crystal clear the best outcome for everyone is to have a Group of 5 playoff and crown their own national champion.
