STRAIT OF HORMUZ- WHAT WE KNOW NOW. (CHANGING FAST)
Latest:
Iranian State TV says every vessel must receive IRGC approval to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.
At the same time: The broader blockade in the region is still in effect, enforced by the U.S. Navy.
What this seamingly means:
• Iran is signaling the strait is “open”
• But only select ships are allowed through under IRGC control
• Outside that corridor, U.S. naval presence continues to restrict movement
So this is not a true reopening.
It’s a dual-control environment:
• Iran controls who can pass inside the strait
• The U.S. controls pressure and access outside it.
Which creates a deadlock.
And layered on top of that: Iran has tied Hormuz access to the Lebanon ceasefire timeline.
