“I wish at [my player’s] age, I would’ve gone much deeper into a relationship with Jesus Christ… To me, the most important thing is to God with all my heart, soul, & mind.”

"we're a one, two, or seed playing, we just didn't have the regular season we would've liked, we are going to be a hard out for anybody"

Tennessee’s Ja’Kobi Gillespie on what he’s learned about Rick Barnes, the opportunity to get the Vols to their first Final Four and the challenge of trying to stop a Michigan team averaging 95 PPG in the tournament. @NC5

"Credit to their guys for how they took care of the basketball, how they played for one another. You can tell they're a very connected team."

Tennessee coach Rick Barnes gave an enthusiastic endorsement of associate head coach Justin Gainey, who is set to interview for the NC State job: "If NC State knew what I knew, they would be begging him to be their next head coach. Because he's ready not just for NC State, he's ready to be the head coach of the University of Tennessee or any school in the country."

Absolutely love this story Rick Barnes shared about Ethan Burg.
Despite struggling this season, Burg said he "would never quit on this team." He didn't and is now playing meaningful minutes in March Madness.
And that's also because his head coach didn't quit on him. #Vols

Michigan coach Dusty May: "I called (Tennessee's) strength coach (Garrett Medenwald) and said, 'do you have anyone in your tree I need to interview or query? I have a lot of respect with how your guys play, how well they move, how physical they are.'
"Also, there's a different level the way they work and attention to detail. I've tried to absorb as much as I could from afar about his program. Couldn't have more respect for (Rick Barnes) as a human being."

Nate Ament: "If I can add real fast, especially doing it before the game and after the game, just to know that good performance, bad performance, win or loss, Jesus is always there for you. Your worth isn't in how you play as a basketball player, but it's what Christ has done for you. You're a child of his.
"If we all understand that, kind of allows us to play with more confidence and play for something that isn't a win or a loss, but to play so we can glorify him."

Michigan coach Dusty May on Vols freshman Nate Ament: "I'm pretty sure one of the reasons he probably chose to go to Tennessee was to learn how to work to be a pro. He's done that. He's a completely different player than he was four months ago or six months ago, whatever the case. Once again, that's a testament to the culture of Tennessee basketball."
