@LAGovJeffLandry @realDonaldTrump Why is it really important for the US to get Greenland as part of the US? I have seen no reason expressed. US has all the access needed as part of previous agreements, so why?
English

Thank you @realDonaldTrump! It’s an honor to serve you in this volunteer position to make Greenland a part of the U.S. This in no way affects my position as Governor of Louisiana!

@jazz_and_more Except Shani didn’t perform for the IDF in 2024, that was a different conductor..:
English

According to Igor Levit, the dismissal of Valery Gergiev from the Munich Philharmonic and the disinvitation of Lahav Shani are not comparable, because Gergiev is a "Putin supporter" and Shani is an "Israeli Jew". Shani performed for the IDF in Israel in 2024.
Michael Mayr@Nightmare_Snake
English

@Nightmare_Snake Außer dass Shani 2024 nicht für die IDF dirigiert hat – das ist eine Falschbehauptung.

@grok @HattoriHanzo82 @BundesKultur @grok where has Lahav Shani said that he supports Israel in the context of the conflict? Sources please.
English

Quellen: Festival-Statement, Nachrichtenberichte.

@de28e7b937bb4d5 @Adaltioratendo1 @TRobinsonNewEra Just for accuracy, there was a land link between Grear Britain and continental Europe about 10,000 years ago - it was called Doggerland and was submerged by rising sea levels
English

@Adaltioratendo1 @TRobinsonNewEra Britain geographically seperated from Europe around 450,000 years ago that's why we are called the British isles our Gov't is rotten but if need talk crap about our island at least get it right.
English

@RichardBratby Would that imply that this is something orchestrated by Gardner, rather than a response to their invitation? With the exception of Hamburg which wanted both, it looks like the other venues didn’t want MCO without jiggy? I’m happy to be corrected though if you know different!
English

@secretopera Not sure how the complicity of the venues makes it any less heinous.
English

There's a word for someone who indulges in this sort of behaviour but I'll see you next Tuesday before I use it on Twitter.
Paul Kilbey@paulkilbey
Not only is John Eliot Gardiner performing the exact same programme as his former ensembles, a week earlier, in the same venue - the venue is letting people exchange tickets from the one concert to the other
English

@BiancaFights @eleanorzjames @Conservatives Go back far enough and a majority of British people are continental European, go back even further and the whole of humanity is African. People born in Britain are British, no matter the colour of their skin.
I wonder why you/your parents named you the Italian word for white…
English

@MaertensDanny @KEdge23 Lovely of you to care! I’m originally from Hackney, where both my parents still live and pay council tax, so I still have a vested interest.
English

@secretopera @KEdge23 You live in Bury.
The London Overground network didn’t quite go that far last time I checked.
English

@will_j_riley @Conservatives I agree that it’s virtue signalling, where I disagree is with any assertion that virtue signalling is inherently bad. The point they make is that they don’t discriminate and are representative of multicultural Britain - and here’s the proof. If it’s authentic how is it negative?
English

@secretopera @Conservatives My point is that be shouldn’t virtue signal this way.
If someone is suitable for the job, their race or religion, etc should not matter.
English

@MarkVipond In fairness, the document asks for a postal address, not her primary address. Legally a primary address doesn’t need to be where someone sleeps, but where you’re registered for electoral roll, council tax etc. I’m not a fan of hers but I am a fan of facts.
English

@eleanorzjames @Conservatives Having women and non-white people is dismal?? Wtf are you on about?
English

@Conservatives It isn’t modern Britain.
It’s London you represent.
The rest of the country isn’t as dismal as London………yet.
English

@will_j_riley @Conservatives Who’s suggesting that they weren’t?
English

@Conservatives None of these things should be relevant 😤
We should choose a leader based in their competence and if they’re suitable for the role, nothing more!
English

First image of earth in 2024 released from NEOSSat.
Not looking like a great start to the year so far.

English

@JaneWinward @RachelReevesMP Looking forward to how they spin that. Though the standard tactic is just not to mention it whatsoever
English

@RachelReevesMP Don’t panic Rachel. This month’s growth figure is good and the UK is expected to have the highest growth rate of all the OECD countries this year. Manufacturing indices are all good as well!
English

Taxes at a seventy-year high. Monthly mortgage payments soaring. The weekly shop still rising.
This is Rishi's recession.
mirror.co.uk/news/politics/…
English

@RachelReevesMP So, if the economy is out of recession next quarter and shows positive growth will you say that the PM has turned the economy around?
English

@LukeWhi59282554 @DamonCarter5 @reformparty_uk The probability of power will bind Labour together in the end. They even managed to hold it together for Corbyn in the end.
English

Following on from two great results in Tamworth and Mid-Bedfordshire at the end of last year, last night we took another huge leap forward, when for the first time our vote share in both seats hit double figures, 13% in Wellingborough and 10.4% in Kingswood.
Voters sent a clear message to Westminster that they have had enough of the Tories.
Thank you for your support.
