Our latest mural, "Books and Freedom," reminds us of the ever-present attacks on books, libraries, and school curriculums. We must do everything in our power to uplift our libraries and protect the right to read.

The allegations here are significant: did Mike Miles' charter chain illegally transfer Texas tax dollars to Colorado schools? Neither Miles nor TEA Commissioner Mike Morath, who appointed Miles as Houston ISD superintendent after absolving the elected board, had any comment.

Alabama just passed a bathroom ban for transgender adults in colleges and universities. It was never about "the children," and always about absolute exclusion from public life. SB129 also bans "divisive concepts" and "DEI" in colleges. Horrifying bill.

14/n in my opinion the best way to reduce the likelihood that you will infect your friends, colleagues, family is to keep up with your boosters/annual immunizations. For that reason I would have recommended this past week that everyone receive another XBB not just those over 65

Guys, it's happening. In the dead of night. On a Friday so the news doesn't cover it. He's going to wipe out all the infrastructure improvements one project at a time.

They don't have reliable data because MOST SCHOOLS DON'T HAVE LIBRARIANS to track the data! This is intentional. Take away the professionals who are trained to analyze data and also restrict them from seeing what anyone else is doing. Can parents PLEASE start calling him out?!

Sharing on behalf of #HISD students, educators, and parents who had to experience this. TEA Commissioner Mike Morath and the culture that his appointed Supt. Mike Miles has created is not what students and educators deserve.

Libraries in 85 HISD schools, most in high-poverty areas, are now "TEAM Centers" with desks & a screen. If some books are on perimeter shelves, no staff remain to care for them, help students, or order new print/digital materials. 32 more libraries will close next year. #txlege
