Sometimes I think we can be A Bit Much about Heat but then whenever I rewatch it I'm quickly back to thinking yeah this is kinda the movie of all-time. The opening setpiece is perfect, telling you only what you need to know and explosively setting the stage for everything after.

Firstly, any "Breaking Bad" is the best TV show of all time take is moot because that has never been the case, there is no world that exists in which that show is better than The Sops, Wire, or Mad Men, but all of this is moot because "The Americans" is actually the greatest.

Big problem with stuff like Fall Guy is that stunts are filmed/edited in ways that show them off, but don't make them feel cool.
Sam Mendes isn't anyone's top action director, but people like the stunts in Skyfall and 1917 because they're not all overlit wide-angle medium shots.

It almost feels like a crime that we have to pick our favorite Carpenter films when there are so many wall to wall bangers. And this is no different. His deep love of adventure serials and Shaw Brother’s martial arts films is readily apparent. Love that Russell gets silly.
