Every time we marvel at art, let’s not forget the meticulous work behind the scenes to restore it. Atelier Sophie Rennequin brings these pieces back to life with such care.

Did you know two Palestinian Muslim families have been custodians of Jerusalem’s Church of the Holy Sepulchre for centuries? Since the 7th century, one family opens and closes the church while the Joudeh family safeguards its keys—a 1,300-year tradition symbolising trust, coexistence, and interfaith unity, dating back to Caliph Omar ibn al-Khattab.

The only known photo of Vincent Van Gogh, taken at age 19... The photograph was taken around 1873 in The Hague, Netherlands.  At the time, van Gogh was working as an art dealer for Goupil & Cie in The Hague and later London, years before he began painting seriously (around 1881). Over the course of a decade, he produced more than 2,000 artworks, including roughly 860 oil paintings, most created in his final two years. Despite this output, van Gogh sold only one confirmed painting during his lifetime, The Red Vineyard (1888). He relied heavily on financial support from his brother, Theo van Gogh. Some historians have questioned whether this image is actually of Vincent or his younger brother Theo, as the two had a strong physical resemblance and photographic records from that period are limited. Forensic research by the Van Gogh Museum confirmed that another previously known photograph actually depicted his brother, Theo van Gogh, leaving this portrait as the sole photographic likeness of Vincent.  © Reddit #archaeohistories
