GREEN IS GOLD - coal has peaked in India 🇮🇳 and China 🇨🇳! Wonderful news! We are entering the post fossils era. Coal-fired power generation fell in both China and India in 2025, for the first time since 1973. The drop came after record clean energy additions in both countries, and was the first time that clean energy was a major driver of falling coal power use. Electricity generation from coal in India fell by 3.0% year-on-year and in China by an estimated 1.6%. Both countries now have the preconditions in place for peaking coal-fired power, if China is able to sustain clean-energy growth and India meets its renewable energy targets for 2030. We are entering a new age of human development. In the past there was only one way to prosperity - through fossils. Now solar is the cheapest energy everywhere and we can combine economy and ecology.
