The role of a developer has changed. Your hiring process should too. On April 22nd, we're going live to walk through our latest release. Here's a preview: 1. AI fluency evaluation that goes beyond writing code. Assess how candidates write specs, review AI-generated output, and troubleshoot with AI. 2. Stronger integrity signals in our Desktop App for campus hiring season, including object detection in webcam feeds and deleted code analysis. 3. Faster pre-screening with Chakra, our AI interviewer, now with improved reports and new ATS integrations. Join us live to see it in action and get your questions answered: pages.hackerrank.com/april-2026-upd…

If you are a new grad and want to land a job in tech, here are some things you can do: 1. Email the CEO. Write a crisp note about how you can help the company, not just your accomplishments. Three people who DM'd me on X are now @hackerrank. 2. The world is moving toward developers with strong fundamentals and strong AI fluency. Grinding LeetCode alone won't get you there. 3. Data annotator roles are exploding. It's a real job category now, and companies are hiring. It can be a good interim path or even full-time in the future. 4. Target companies that actually hire junior developers. Airbnb and Shopify come to mind, and startups would love to hire high-agency people, no matter the experience. There are more. Do the research. 5. Build in public. Make tools, contribute to open source, create a Claude skill, write technical posts, and treat distribution like it matters as much as the code. 6. Finally, there has never been a better time to start a company. Starting a company because no one gave you a job will be an amazing story on Lex Fridman's pod someday.

AI makes every resume look perfect. Recruiters and hiring managers spend hours screening to find candidates they actually want. The answer should be an AI interviewer that interviews like your best employee. But most AI interviewers sound robotic, can't be tuned to your rubric and importantly candidates don't like it. We built Chakra to fix that. What makes Chakra different: 1. Paste a job description, get a custom interviewer in seconds. The interview feels conversational, not scripted. 2. It can pull up whiteboards, code editors, or design canvases based on context and actually see what the candidate is doing. 3. Reports show exact evidence for every rating so your team can review and calibrate. 4. It protects integrity by flagging tab switching, looking off-screen, and other suspicious behavior. 5. Integrates with your ATS and existing workflow. Try it here: chakra.sh

Two truths and a lie: 1. Our Integrity solutions are the best in the biz 2. NASA named their Orion spacecraft after it 3. Our interviews let developers use an AI assistant with agent mode on real codebases

University recruiting has two problems: finding next-gen developers and making sure your assessments are trustworthy. Last week, we hosted university recruiting leaders from Microsoft, Google, Nike, Uber, IBM, Cisco, Wipro, CRED, and more in Bangalore to show what we're building to solve both. Bangalore was first. Chennai, Hyderabad, and Delhi are next. If you're rethinking how you hire from campuses, see you at the next one!

Your hiring process is a proxy for your company's reputation. If developers work with AI daily but your interview bans it, you're signaling that you're behind, and you're filtering for the wrong people. The interview process should mirror the job. That's what candidates evaluate you on.

I asked Claude to analyze the leaked Claude Code source code. 512,000 lines across 1,900 files. 5 things about how it actually works that most people don't understand 🧵

Campus hiring is getting harder to trust. Candidates can access AI tools, screen sharing, messaging apps, even remote control during assessments. Teams are double-checking everything. We're hosting a small group of university recruiting leaders in Bangalore to discuss what's changing and how teams are adapting. Link to register below!

AI won't create fewer developers, but more. Every programming language is just an abstraction of machine code. Assembly abstracted machine code. C abstracted assembly. Python abstracted C. AI is the next abstraction layer. It makes development accessible to everyone. Time won't be spent hand-writing code. It will be spent on what to build, how to architect it, and working with AI to make it happen. The developer pool expands, not shrinks.

Please hire more interns. Every year ours build an intro website. This year they made custom 3D characters with questionable dancing skills, a photo dump, and a full pixel game where you explore the office and complete quests.
