⚡ Over 110,000 lightning strikes during the month of August sparked 534 lightning-caused wildfires—yet only 5 (1%) grew beyond 10 acres. CAL FIRE continues to meet its goal of containing 95% of fires to 10 acres or less.
We are currently seeing increased fire activity due to the lightning activity seen over the last few days, and conditions remain critical. Please stay prepared, stay aware, and have a plan in case a wildfire threatens your community.
Our crews continue to work tirelessly across the state to protect the communities we serve.

Heat Advisory in Effect 🌡️
Starting today, much of California is under a heat advisory with temperatures reaching dangerous levels. Here’s how to stay safe during this heat event:
✅ Stay hydrated—drink water often, even if you don’t feel thirsty
✅ Limit strenuous outdoor activities during the hottest parts of the day
✅ Find air-conditioned spaces to cool down when possible.
✅ Never leave children, seniors, or pets inside a parked vehicle, even for a short time
✅ Check in on neighbors, friends, and family who may be more vulnerable to heat-related illness
Heat also means higher fire danger. Remember to:
🔥 Avoid mowing dry grass or using outdoor equipment that can spark a fire
🔥 Properly secure tow chains and avoid parking on dry vegetation
🔥 Dispose of cigarettes responsibly
