Absolutely scandalous! As a Welsh farmer this infuriates me. Another shocking example of how Labour say one thing and then do the complete opposite. Burden 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 farmers with bureaucracy and red tape. Pass strict animal welfare laws, which nobody disputes, then undo everything by feeding our children on low welfare, low standard and zero traceability foods shipped in from thousands of miles away. Only @RUKWales will end this madness. Vote for common sense on May 7th. Vote Reform ➡️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Under 3% of chicken which is served to our school children in #swansea comes from the UK. Over 30%comes from Brazil, China & Thailand! Shocking. I highlighted this to Swansea Council at our last meeting.

Bangor University have banned Reform and called us “racist, transphobic and homophobic”. Bangor receives £30 million in state funding a year, much of which comes from Reform-voting taxpayers. I am sure they won’t mind losing every penny of that state funding under a Reform government. After all, they wouldn’t want a racist’s money would they?

Some politicians have rightly criticised non-stun slaughter of cattle, sheep and chickens. The continuing decline of small, local, abattoir availability is a factor. Were there more services, farmers could choose to market their own ethical products direct to customers. The FSA quango has been effective in closing these essential facilities, along with the related decline in the number of qualified staff. A solution must be found to reverse this trend. @CatharineHoey @RupertLowe10
Kate Hoey@CatharineHoey

It is shocking that farmers who want to ensure their animals are killed humanely and not by cruel Halal non stunned methods are unable to demand that this happens. All meat MUST be labelled so the public know the method of killing and no Education authority should be serving only Halal meat in their schools with no choice for parents.

A few months ago I met Jim Barrington. In the 1990s he’d been a hunt saboteur and director of the League Against Cruel Sports, which campaigned to stop fox hunting. Ahead of the ban - which came into law in 2004 - Jim was involved in a series of debates with the philosopher Roger Scruton who, later in life, rode to hounds and became a strong advocate for the merits of hunting as the most humane method of controlling fox populations in the countryside. Faced with the facts, with emotion removed, Jim very publicly changed his mind - coming out in favour of allowing fox hunting to continue - losing many friends in the process. But his sifting of the arguments about fox hunting remain an object lesson in how to put reason before dogma. I thought of Jim today as many Hunts headed out for what may be their final Boxing Day in the field. Labour’s proposed ban on trail hunting is another example of MPs who talk a lot about kindness, while failing to understand toleration. Another example of a government which finds it easy to destroy the work of generations in the name of what they think is progress, but which actually amounts to an ideological scorched-earth policy.

If Labour were serious about improving animal welfare they’d ensure all imported food is produced to our standards. This is entirely about a war on the countryside. The result will be farm closures and higher prices for the public.

So now Labour wants to ban trail hunting. You might as well ban walking dogs in the countryside as they chase rabbits, hares, deer and foxes. Labour are authoritarian control freaks.

This simply isn’t good enough. ‘We are where we are’ might apply to an act of god or action of a foreign state. The IHT debacle is the minister’s own government’s completely self-defeating policy. They could literally fix this tonight.

Read this by @DPJHodges. Proof, if it were needed, that Starmer is the biggest hypocrite and liar we’ve ever had in British politics. He is not fit to be Prime Minister and needs to go. In just 15 months, Labour have proved they are unfit for government.
