This is a good criticism of the film if you assume yjat Speed Racer’s victory lap is meant to represent the success of the film itself *on release*. Instead, I think the film’s release run is best mirrored by the story of Rex Racer.

My second IMAX watch of SPEED RACER really solidified this as the best scene of the film. Racer X is so well defined through his brief screen time, and the tragedy of his secret is made all the more painful by Michael Giacchino’s best work ever.
