Broken of Love is a revenge-driven drama first and foremost. It has a female lead who happens to fall for another woman, but the story itself is not romance-centered. The romance exists, but it isn’t the core of the narrative. The heart of the series is Arisa’s revenge and the emotional and psychological weight that comes with it. Since Arisa is the main character, the story is naturally told through her perspective. We see more of her than anyone else because this is her story, her trauma, and the path she chose because of it. Everything in the plot revolves around the belief she grew up with that Weiling is responsible for her parents’ death. The pacing is intentionally fast, especially in episode 1, because the show needs to establish the tone and the central conflict right away. The major turning point is Arisa realizing that the woman she has been involved with is actually the daughter of her enemy. So if someone is expecting a show that revolves around constant romance or intimate scenes, they might completely miss the point of the series. Broken of Love is mainly about revenge, moral ambiguity, manipulation, and the consequences of living your life fueled by hatred.
