We are closely monitoring negotiations between Air Canada and the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE). Air Canada has started a gradual suspension of Air Canada and Air Canada Rouge flights in anticipation of network-wide service disruptions effective Aug. 16.

To address ongoing labour uncertainty following strike notice by CUPE, Air Canada’s flight attendant union, a lock out notice was issued to CUPE today, effective Aug. 16. We will begin implementing our contingency plan to gradually begin an orderly wind down of operations.

If you're travelling to or from the airport today, please allow for extra travel time, as nearby road work on Hwy. 102 may cause delays.

Update 2:30 p.m.: RCMP have reopened one lane of traffic.

RCMP have closed Highway 102 outbound at exit 6 (airport) as part of an ongoing investigation. Residents can expect to see a police presence. Avoid the area to allow officers to do their work. At this time, there’s no risk to public safety.
