Samuel, One of the most unusual recruiting stories tied to Oklahoma football involves quarterback Chris Redman, one of the top quarterback prospects in the country in the 1995 recruiting cycle. Redman, a standout at Louisville Male High School in Kentucky, originally signed a National Letter of Intent with the University of Iowa. At some point after signing, Redman decided Iowa was not the right fit and wanted to be released from his Letter of Intent. In a highly unusual move for the time, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) allowed him to be released from the agreement. That type of release was extremely rare in that era, and no public explanation was ever clearly given. That development caught the attention of Oklahoma head coach Howard Schnellenberger, who had deep ties to Kentucky. Schnellenberger had: Played college football at University of Kentucky Built strong recruiting relationships throughout the state Previously served as head coach at University of Louisville Using those connections, Schnellenberger quickly moved in and convinced Redman to commit to Oklahoma. Redman even signed a Letter of Intent with the Sooners. However, the NCAA ruled that a player could not sign two National Letters of Intent, creating uncertainty around Redman’s status. Schnellenberger reportedly remained confident, telling people around the program: “He’s coming.” Then came the twist. By late July, Oklahoma had already produced its massive and elaborate 1995 Sooner Media Guide, featuring Schnellenberger prominently on the cover. The guide was huge—beautifully produced and award-winning—but so thick that many joked it was almost too big to use. Meanwhile, Redman reported for preseason camp. But not in Norman. Instead, he showed up at University of Louisville, the hometown program that Schnellenberger himself had coached before arriving at Oklahoma.

@MBrooks02 Redman should have stayed in Norman, Stoops and Heupel whipped Louisville in their house in '99

@Inspirenaire Wow. Used to watch in the mornings before school on cable in OK. I wanted so badly to go to this as a kid. Wanted to play The Grand Prize Game. To me, Chicago seemed like another world and I knew deep down I’d never get to go on The Bozo Show.

Bozo was creepy and on drugs😆🥴. What a childhood, I dreamed of getting on the Bozo show but Chicago being what it was kids like me barely got a chance. You had to live in the far North or Far South Side of Chicago where the Irish Italians Greek and Polish and Jewish people were.

@chriscfore D3 football at the top 20 programs is barely distinguishable from a D1 game. It’s a few inches of height or 20 lbs in weight. Not to mention the top D3s have D1 players all over their roster that were not happy with their situation at the D1.

My oldest son played OL at 6'3" 250. He gave up 1 sack in 153 attempts as a junior. Gave up 2 in 229 as a senior. Decent. 4.1 GPA Team Captain All CIF All League First Team All Area Team (local newspaper) Know why he didn't go D1? Cause the good Lord didn't bless him with size or speed. . . . . That's it. Some parents are delusional thinking the SEC or Big 10 is coming.

We all see this in the highway from time to time. The exit is backed up miles away. There is always that one driver that tries to cut in front of everyone. If this happens to you, would you let them in?
SonnyBoy🇺🇸@gotrice2024

You get off work late, haven’t eaten all day and are starving. So you pull up to the drive through getting ready to get in line when this inconsiderate man cuts you off and cuts in line. So to get revenge, every time he tries to order, you blare the horn so they can’t hear him. Is this next level pettiness?

No words. These ESPN/CFP invitational rankings are a joke. The bias toward the SEC is the tell. Both OU and Bama should be below Miami and ND. But typical SEC bias. If Ole Miss were not in the SEC, I promise you this cmte would have dropped them too. It is what it is, I know Miami will be screwed again.
