@RealJMPeterman @CorgiHammer @MayorFrey @GovTimWalz You’re really gonna use a map that says SLC is the third most unsafe city during Christmas as evidence for anything?
English

@CorgiHammer @MayorFrey @GovTimWalz Typical liberal refusing to take responsibility for anything. You guys always have an excuse. Bottom line is crime is off the charts. Instead of denying it, why don't you do something about it?

@DerekBoonstra @JRobFromMN @VicNachos @LizBoldonMN Fair point. I just also see kids being required to go to school as a service to the government in a way, as all school really does is try to shape a student into a working, tax-generating citizen. Feeding kids has a tangible ROI for the government and society as a whole.
English

@WFR90 @JRobFromMN @VicNachos @LizBoldonMN This is the best argument I've seen. So in short the first two are jobs and you are away from home/norm workplace (per diem). School is a service. The alternatives: a parent stays home or daycare the child wouldn't be out making money (usually). Parents could also pack lunches.
English

@JRobFromMN @VicNachos @LizBoldonMN Should the government stop giving soldiers food? What about jury duty, should they take away the lunch stipend? It’s almost like when a government requires you to be somewhere, they should provide you with the things you need to be there in the first place…
English

Ok...there are two big reasons
1. Citizens should not want to be reliant on the Government for basic life functions IMO. I think encouraging reliance on the Govt leads down a bad path. You may disagree and think thats government's role, but fundamentally we will disagree.
2. If you did want to establish a "communal" responsibility for things like school lunches, government is the least efficient method to do that. Government is full of waste, red tape, etc. If you collect $100 to disperse for food for kids, Government will provide the least actual output of food for kids.
As communities we should all seek to make sure that we help and support each other, Government should just be the last option to do that.
English

@Jimmyjo23222446 @MNTaxLoon Got it. Adults deserve free food, kids don’t. Thank you Jimmy for clarifying.

The GOP truly does not understand increased school meal costs are a sign of major success.
They’re going to spend months lambasting one of the most popular DFL policies in years 🤭
Dustin Grage@GrageDustin
All of the DFL programs are costing more than they expected. Who could have seen this coming?
