President Joseph Aoun and his circle of advisors are pressuring Acting Public Prosecutor Judge Pierre Francis to take action against journalist Hassan Illaik over his recent criticisms of the presidency.
According to reports, pressure from the presidential palace has centered on summoning Illaik for questioning before the public prosecution.
If he fails to appear, a search and arrest warrant is expected to follow, potentially leading to his detention.
The situation has reportedly escalated further, with efforts aimed at securing his arrest and imprisonment.
One official described the intent bluntly: president Aoun wants Illaik behind bars, just as happened with Ali Berro.
This move reflects a broader attempt to enforce political alignment between Lebanese state institutions and the presidency on one side, and Israel on the other, while seeking to silence and criminalize those who criticize it.
Following the president’s last speech, it was widely interpreted as signaling tacit acceptance of continued Israeli strikes and the killing of Lebanese civilians.

🔴 Who said this?
Not Hezbollah. Not Iran. Not the Arab world.
An American said it in Congress to the Defense Secretary's face:
"You're a war criminal. You should be arrested. What you're doing is despicable."
𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝘀𝗮𝗶𝗱 𝗜𝗿𝗮𝗻 𝘄𝗮𝘀 "𝗼𝗯𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱" is now begging Congress for $1.5 trillion to extend the lie. And his own people are calling it.
We've been saying it since 2003. No one listened.
Today they heard it from an American. There's no excuse left.
