Sweden condemns last night's horrific air strikes against Ukraine. My thoughts are with the many victims and their families. We must ramp up pressure on Russia and bolster support for Ukraine. Sweden wants a 20th sanctions package against Russia and the EU’s 90-billion euro loan to Ukraine to be adopted as soon as possible.

I am meeting my Finnish counterpart, Prime Minister Petteri Orpo, in Helsinki this evening. There is no country with which we cooperate more closely than Finland. Finland is important to us, and we are important to them. After two years as NATO allies, we have much to discuss. This evening we will follow up on the discussions from the latest European Council on energy prices and the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East. We will also discuss the importance of safeguarding our vast Nordic forests from overregulation.

Jag besöker Kiev i dag, på dagen fyra år efter Rysslands fullskaliga invasion. Vi lever i en avgörande tid för Europeisk säkerhet och vårt stöd till Ukraina har aldrig varit viktigare. Under 2025 var Sverige en av de största givarna av militärt stöd till Ukraina, och vi fortsätter visa vår orubbliga solidaritet med Ukrainas folk.

An unpredictable world: Charting the right course and our shared potential. That was the theme for this year’s foreign and security policy high-level dialogue Hanalys. The forum was held on Tuesday, 10 February at Hanaholmen, a Swedish-Finnish cooperation and cultural centre in Espoo, Finland. The event was hosted by Swedish Minister for Foreign Affairs Maria Malmer Stenergard and Finnish Minister for Foreign Affairs Elina Valtonen. “In uncertain times, Hanalys is a unique opportunity to further deepen dialogue between Sweden and Finland. Together with Finland’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and experts from both countries, I look forward to discussing how changes in global politics are affecting the global economy and how we best strengthen Europe’s security and competitiveness,” says Ms Malmer Stenergard. I am shocked by the horrific mass shooting in Tumbler Ridge, Canada. Would like to extend Sweden’s sincere condolences and heartfelt sympathies to the families and friends of the victims and to the people of Canada. Sweden stands with Canada in these tragic times.
