Tacoma News Tribune reporter Izzie Lund, 26, said she didn't leave her home for three weeks after an unexpected dental bill because she couldn't afford to put gas in her tank. "I was just trapped in my apartment," Lund said.

McClatchy have struggled to afford groceries, weddings & plane tickets to see family. As more McClatchy reporters feel forced out of the industry, this has also affected the quality of journalism in their communities.

Visuals journalist Brian Hayes said saving enough for a home feels impossible on his income. He's watched colleagues leave the industry to be able to buy a place of their own. "I don't think any of us got into [journalism] to be rich, but I thought we'd make a living," he said.

After receiving an unexpected $600 dental bill in August, Tacoma News Tribune reporter Izzie Lund, 26, didn't leave her home for three weeks because she couldn't afford to put gas in the tank. Carpenter Media, which bought Pamplin and promptly laid off Oregon journalists, is set to take over EO Media next month. Oregonians deserve better than this.

I'm not going to share it, but you may have seen that "dog" video floating about. Internet archives show the video is at least 8 years old and a Cornell veterinary professor told @LeadStoriesCom that it's either a lamb or goat. I haven't seen any evidence that it was from Idaho.
