Beyond the @ Symbol: Meet the Designer Behind the Threads Identity. Jez Burrows, a British designer and illustrator based in London, played a pivotal role in shaping the visual identity of Threads. Working within Meta’s Instagram design team, Burrows was the craftsperson responsible for physically drawing the final "unbroken line" logo. The emblem is a modern, stylized interpretation of the "@" symbol, designed to represent a user's voice and the continuous flow of digital conversation. While Burrows executed the final mark, the project was a massive collaborative effort. It was overseen by creative director Cynthia Pratomo and involved key contributions from designers like Ryan O’Rourke. The team drew inspiration from the Tamil and Malayalam alphabets, eventually refining the loop using the "Instagram Sans" typeface to ensure it felt like a natural extension of the existing Instagram ecosystem. #logodecks
