Our seminary class took Elder Bednar’s challenge seriously to flood the earth through social media. So far: • TikTok – not bad • Instagram – eh • X – apparently a tougher mission field! LDS community… help the youth out. Follow and repost if you see something worth sharing

Matthew 24:26 is about secret claims of Christ’s return. Joseph Smith claimed a vision. If “someone saw God in the wilderness” automatically proves they’re false, Scripture suddenly has a lot of explaining to do. By that logic, Moses is out because of the burning bush, Paul is out because of the road to Damascus, and half the prophets are disqualified for having spiritual experiences outdoors.

Crazy. It's almost like Jesus knew that Joseph Smith was going to claim he met him out in the woods.

It's become clear watching this guy's behavior over the last couple of days that he is engagement baiting by making outlandish statements. Let's not help to monetize and grow his account. I encourage everyone to mute, block, or ignore. He's going to keep starting fires if we continue to supply them with oxygen.

I really dislike all the attacks on my Mormon friends on here. Mormons are some of the most Christlike people you will ever meet. They operate in charity and self sacrifice. And you know what? They put family at the core of their lives. They love children and view them as blessings from God. I know a lot of Christians who have terrible views on children and family. America has a lot of problems and I think the last possible problem is the Mormon community. I obviously disagree with their theology or else I would be Mormon. But give me a break about heresy and doctrine when there are over 40,000 different interpretations of Christianity since the Protestant reformation.

Leave it to the Internet to take an attempt to be funny at someone telling me I’m going to hell and turn it into a pseudo intellectual discussion of Paradise Lost! Sigh. I thought the rule was “Scripture alone.” I didn’t realize John Milton got promoted to the apostolic succession.

@residentreformr We don’t worship Joseph Smith. Why would it be weird to venerate the mother of Jesus?!? She’s clearly a pretty darn importanr figure in Christian history. Similarly, why wouldn’t we venerate a prophet of God, warts and all?

Mormons are as committed to Joseph Smith as Catholics are to Mary. The devotion is weird.

You know…that doesn’t make enough sense to be insulting! I will always do a tip of the cap for a joke I haven’t heard before making fun of us…. But I expect them to be funny and clever. 0 for 2! I love the Bible. Read and study and teach from it regularly. It’s the word of God. I love the Book of Mormon. It’s the word of God! I feel closer to Christ when I read it.

I respectfully invite you to attend any of our services anywhere in the world on any given Sunday. You will quickly see that our primary focus is on our Savior, Jesus Christ. We sing about Him, pray in His name, and testify of Him. In short, we worship Him. Then go to a mosque and report back if there is any similarity whatsoever. Jesus is more than just a simple prophet or “good dude.” He is the eternal God.

By Mormon logic, Islam should also be called "Christianity." They believe in "Jesus" too.

@RogueCenturion @knonX__ I’m glad you find answers to your questions in the Bible. I do, too. They are the word of God and we’d all be better for reading it and following the teachings contained within. I also receive answers and inspiration from a regular reading of the Book of Mormon.

@knonX__ I’ve never had, nor needed any personal revelation. God’s word in the Old and New Testaments are perfectly sufficient.

The biggest blow to Mormonism is the Egyptian papyri Smith claimed to translate. The Church lost it, and then later found it and handed it to Egyptologists, they said it was just a generic piece of the Book of the Dead. A funerary text, basically. And this was supposed to be some lost book of Abraham.

I served an LDS mission and was always amazed at the number of times that, by preaching and testifying to people, we reactivated them in their faith tradition. I used to bristle at it, but the more I pondered and prayed about it, I believe God was working through me to help them return to the light in their lives—a light they could accept and that would make them better.

Criticize me all you want for being kind to my LDS brothers and sisters, but I witnessed to 80 people in an X space tonight about my conversion back to Roman Catholicism and about how the Rosary led me back the Christ.

Some of my most meaningful religious discussions are with a dear Catholic friend who became a priest. I was invited to his ordination at the Vatican, and I felt the influence of the Holy Ghost during that sacred ceremony for him (hard not to feel SOMETHING at St Peter’s)! God will use all means to bring to pass His purpose. And we are much stronger together than we are divided

My reading of the Book of Mormon has not led me away from Catholicism. Quite the opposite—it has given me opportunities to engage with Latter-day Saints in a spirit of friendship and mutual respect. In fact, some of my discussions and reflections have already encouraged a few Latter-day Saints to reconsider their attitudes toward Catholics and the Catholic Church. I consider that a good thing. My hope is that through sincere dialogue I might help some Latter-day Saints see the beauty of the Catholic faith, especially the Eucharist. If God can use my reading of the Book of Mormon to build bridges where there was once hostility, foster mutual understanding, and perhaps open hearts to a deeper consideration of Christ’s presence in the Eucharist, then I see no reason to deny that God may be at work in that process. That is not an endorsement of every claim in the Book of Mormon. It is a recognition that God often draws good from circumstances and instruments that are less than perfect.

Government recognizing that Mormonism is actually not a branch of Christianity is government doing its job of promoting the true religion, which is a good thing.

Silly. Fair point. Wearing a Patriots jersey doesn’t make you a Patriots player. But that’s not the claim. The claim is that someone who wears the jersey, watches every game, cheers for the team, and centers his Sundays around the Patriots can reasonably call himself a Patriots fan. The disagreement is over the definition of fan, not whether he’s on the roster.
