Actually, on the contrary. I am proud of my non-consultant colleagues. May we have a future generation of doctors with teeth and motivation to fight for fairness, rather than rolling over uselessly for devaluation and substitution the way my and the preceding generations did.

Furious consultants hit out at striking doctors and warn walkouts will cause weeks of chaos The exhaustion and stress from 15 strikes The BMA is trying to put us in an early grave ⁦@alisonleary1⁩ ⁦@Michell24423236independent.co.uk/news/health/do…

@DoctorsVoteUK @wesstreeting "The power to stop these strikes lies squarely with the government and the Secretary of State. So what on Earth are they playing at?" What, indeed. For "a drop in the ocean." (Rachel Reeves, July 2024). All of this could have been avoided.

This is not the view of Nurses. Absolutely ashamed and embarrassed to see the chair of RCN Congress speaking like this. You do not speak for us Linda.
Linda B@Linda_ex_CPH

@DrHWazir Not up for solidarity with a union that is happy throwing other healthcare workers and international doctors under the bus. You whinge on about substitution - who do you think will be doing the work while you are on the picket lines?? You've had a better offer than any of us!

Zero surprises here. A high-ranking @theRCN official making comments like this is very on brand given their previous hostile messaging. Ultimately, it’s just shortsighted union leadership.

Not a suprise that anti-doctor hostility runs so blatantly amongst senior nursing figures. But still disappointing as I think you’d be hard pressed to find any doctor be against our nursing colleagues getting a fair and reasonable pay rise. Respect is apparently one way.

Hi, have you considered joining a union and negotiating with the Government for better pay or striking?

How long before Linda deletes this and claims she was subject to online bullying and self-victimises herself for her moronic tweets?

If a country wants to have doctors, it 1. Has to train them 2. Has to pay them to work to provide 24/7 services 3. Has to treat and pay them well enough to *retain* them once fully trained, as they are internationally sought after amidst a global health workforce crisis.
Shaun Lintern@ShaunLintern

Another doctors strike looms next week - I took a look at one of the central issues making doctors angry, thousands can't get training jobs. But with each pay rise they become more expensive for the NHS to train while patients wait for treatment: thetimes.com/uk/healthcare/…

I’ve seen someone else on here suggest that the retired doctor who wrote this was a “junior” doctor in 1974 when he was “happy with £7,500” Just so we’re all clear on the maths: £7,500 in 1974 in today’s money is: 🔹 £114,756 by RPI inflation. 🔸 £72,046 by CPI inflation.

@DHSCgovuk You've been talking about these "jobs" for months. They were meant to be live now. Are you seriously suggesting DHSC were planning on doing an all-nighter to get them through?

Doctors are working over the bank holiday weekend. They are often working on overstretched rotas, but put in a Herculean amount of work for their patients. On a BH the lowest paid member of staff is a doctor. This sort of low effort disrespect is why doctors are striking.

@NHSuk Is that if the Dr's can be bothered to turn up and not play strike!

Workforce planning should not be a bargaining chip. Patients need to see doctors. The NHS is on its knees and a Labour government is treating it like a political football. Very disappointing.
Department of Health and Social Care@DHSCgovuk

The offer we put to the BMA Resident Doctors Committee would have brought forward 1,000 specialty training places to fix bottlenecks. They have rejected this offer and announced more strikes. This is the impact on those places as a result 👇

'When I took office I was struck by the mismatch between the numbers of resident Drs & available training places. My commitment to you remains that this is too important to treat as a transactional matter.’ -Wes Streeting MP, before making it a transactional matter
Wes Streeting@wesstreeting

Thanks to this Government resident doctors have already received a 28.9% average pay rise. The deal on offer goes further on pay, and would create more training places - including 1,000 now. The BMA can’t even offer an alternative proposal. I’d urge everyone to read this👇🏻

Residency Tip: Your Senior Explained It Once. There Will Be No Season 2. Write. Things. Down. I don't care if you use a notebook, your phone, a napkin, or your own forearm. When your senior teaches you something mid-case - that information was a LIMITED EDITION DROP. It will not be repeated. If you ask the same question twice, your senior won't yell. Worse. They'll just look at you. That quiet disappointment. That "I expected nothing and I'm still let down" face. You'll carry that expression in your nightmares for 3 years. So carry a pocket diary. After every case, every round, every scolding - write the lesson down. Review it before sleep like it's your ex's Instagram. This habit alone makes you top 10% because your competition is out there raw-dogging residency with zero notes and vibes-based medicine. The bar is in hell. Pick it up.
