The New York State and Local Retirement System (NYSLRS) is actively investing in the very foreign solar and wind corporations that lobby ORES (Office of Renewable Energy Siting) to issue them a final siting permit. Many New Yorkers are probably unaware if they are part of the public state system, their retirements are actively investing in NextEra Energy, Brookfield Renewable, AES, Repsol, and Avangrid (foreign or foreign-led boards). This creates a major conflict of interest that places pressure on ORES and the DPS to issue final siting permits as part of the other financial obligations the state quietly agreed to without making state workers aware. That's one of the reasons why ORES issues these permits 100% of the time. By having the NY pension fund buy stock in a company such as Brookfield Renewable, it provides demand for that stock. Higher investor demand supports the company's valuation and makes raising capital easier. Brookfield Renewable is a multinational corporation out of Canada that recently acquired Boralex, another Canadian renewable corporation that is behind Fort Edward Solar. New York State and the politicians running our state are selling out our natural resources, farmland, grasslands, and water to foreign corporations while helping to boost the value of their stock. How is this not a national security issue? If you work for New York State, were you aware your retirement is invested in foreign renewable corporations? Looking at just one example above, NextEra Energy, you can publicly see this in the New York State Common Retirement Fund: -Shares: 98,010,811 -Fair Value: $208.1 million In addition, the fund held over $122 million of bonds issued by NextEra Energy Capital Holdings. Do you get it yet? The "green" in green energy is MONEY.
