My friend was long due for a promotion; however, his promotion unexplainably stalled. He discussed this with one of his bosses to whom he is loyal, and the boss said he’ll do something about it.
Fast forward to the arrival of a new HR manager; he finally got promoted. He then sent a message to that boss, telling him thank you for putting in a word for him.
Few weeks after, the HR called him to ask what he had done to that boss. In confusion, he asked what he was talking about. The HR told him that his boss had actually been the very one kicking against his promotion and was strongly against it.
