It really doesn't @greenparty_ie - what would have been really useful would have been a ban on trawling of sprat (whale food), restrictions on fishing within SACs or an actual Marine Protected Area - none of which has happened despite every one of these things being promised!

Congratulations to a group of 8 TY students & their mentors,Mr O’Sullivan&Ms Holbein who competed in the finals of ECO-UNESCO’s YEA with their project’Impacts Of Unsustainable Pair Trawling in Kenmare Bay’ & won the overall Senior Marine Category&the Overall Senior Winners Award.

The fishing industry has not been honestly reporting its impact on non-target species (imagine!) Although a legal obligation, there are no reports of fishing boats in Irish waters catching dolphins, despite hundreds washing up dead on our coasts every winter.
