NOTICE: The City of Corpus Christi will participate in a statewide drill of public warning systems on Thursday, April 2, 2026, in coordination with the Texas Division of Emergency Management. The drill will take place between 10:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. and test the performance and reliability of alert and warning systems used during emergencies. Test messages may be delivered through mobile devices and other platforms, including emergency notification systems and additional communication tools. Residents may receive multiple test alerts during this time. A primary alert will be issued through IPAWS, and those enrolled in the Regional Reverse Alert system will also receive a notification. All messages are part of the exercise, and no action is required. This coordinated effort supports ongoing statewide preparedness. A designated testing window allows agencies to activate primary, alternate, and backup systems. After the drill, participating agencies will submit feedback, including observations and recommendations, to improve future operations. Any alerts received during this time frame are part of the planned drill. This is only a test. Very cold wind chills, as low as 21°, are expected across the northern Coastal Plains and Victoria Crossroads late tonight into Saturday morning. Please remember to bundle up if you need to go outside.

A cold front will push into the area, dropping temperatures to near freezing on Friday night. Strong north winds will create hazardous marine conditions through Saturday. Saturday morning wind chills (feels like temperature) are expected to be slightly below 32 degrees. Sunday morning temperatures will remain cold but are not expected to drop below freezing. A warming trend is predicted for Monday. A cold front early this morning will lead to much cooler temperatures through Sunday morning, coldest air will be in place early Sunday morning with temperatures from the upper 20s to mid 30s. However, all locations will likely feel below freezing wind chills. Warms up Monday.

A Freeze Watch is in effect for late Saturday night into Sunday morning as temperatures likely fall as low as 26-32°F over inland portions of South Texas. Although winds will be light, wind chill values may range the upper teens to the mid 20s.

Extended periods of below freezing temperatures along with hard freezes are expected through Tuesday morning. Protect people, pets, plants, and pipes!
