The passage of the Jammu & Kashmir Private Universities Act, 2026 marks a transformative step in expanding access, ensuring quality, and protecting students’ interests. A long-standing demand of our youth and education sector has finally been fulfilled this truly deserves all praise.

The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference’s Provincial Vice President and Honourable MLA from Hazratbal @salmanalisagar chaired a meeting with office bearers and Block Presidents of the Hazratbal constituency at the party headquarters, Nawa-e-Subha. The meeting featured detailed discussions on ongoing development works, organisational matters, and various public issues. At the inauguration of the ₹5.93 cr Centre of Excellence at Talab Tillo, Jammu, Chief Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening agriculture across J&K. Recognising the challenges posed by climate change, he stressed crop insurance, assured irrigation and improved infrastructure to mitigate risks to agriculture. The Chief Minister also handed over sanction letters to beneficiaries under the HADP scheme.

Chief Minister today inaugurated the Centre for Excellence for Entrepreneurship in Precision Vegetables & Floriculture Farming at Talab Tillo, Jammu. The foundation stone of the Project was laid by the Chief Minister on 4 August 2025. The Centre aims to promote precision farming, support entrepreneurship in vegetables and floriculture, and ensure year-round availability of quality seedlings, creating new income opportunities for farmers across Jammu & Kashmir. The inauguration was attended by Minister @JavedDar_NC , Advisor to Chief Minister @nasirsogami and MLA @ArvindGuptaJK .

Senior @JKNC_ leader and multiple times legislator & Minister @sakinaitoo sahiba won her first election in 1996 when @parawahid and his gang of online trolls would have been in school. Sakina ji entered politics in the most tragic circumstances, following the brutal assassination of her father, the late Itoo Sahab, in Jammu. Later, her uncle too fell to bullets. The tragedies she has endured are unimaginable. One often wonders how she continues to serve the people of Jammu & Kashmir with such grace, strength and unwavering will. She had the option to finish medical school, become a doctor and live a comfortable, easy life but she decided against it. Rather than making derogatory remarks, atleast show basic decency and respect to a battle-hardened senior woman legislator who has endured unimaginable personal losses yet continues to serve the people of J&K. Personal attacks on her have no place in political discourse and I condemn it.

Many congratulations to Hon’ble CM @OmarAbdullah sb & Education Minister @sakinaitoo sahiba for introducing and successfully passing the landmark J&K Private Universities Bill 2026 in the J&K Assembly. This historic step will inevitably transform higher education in J&K and bring massive benefits to our youth & people. There will be no more forced migration to other states when we can have quality education at our own doorsteps. Thousands of students will save lakhs of rupees every year on fees, travel & living costs. Top private universities & reputed institutions are expected to set up campuses in J&K. It will help create thousands of new local jobs in teaching, administration & allied sectors. Overall a Win-Win situation for us.

. Anyone saying this is again playing with the emotions of innocent #Kashmiris. The hearing date of 6th April 2026 for the said case was fixed on 18th Feb 2026, not after the debate in the Assembly. Let us be honest, speak the truth, and stop fooling innocent #Kashmiris for political gains. Time for honest politics!
