Press release: together with 25 other UN Special Procedures, I am calling on States that champion human rights defenders to consider candidacy for the ECOSOC NGO Committee. The Committee is key when it comes to civil society being able to access UN spaces, yet the majority of States seeking election to it actively repress human rights defenders in their own countries and there is already an alarming trend of States using the Committee to block human rights organisations. #Croatia received a total of 216 recommendations, accepting 176 and noting 40. #UPR50 #HRC61 #UniversalPeriodic

#MarshallIslands received a total of 223 recommendations, supporting some 95%. The State called for support, collaboration, and investment from the international community to achieve its human rights goals, particularly to combat the impacts of climate change. #UPR50 #HRC61
