Miguel Cabrera was the only player to play in the World Baseball Classic in each of the first five tournaments. In the sixth WBC, Venezuela finally won it all. A member of the coaching staff, Cabrera gets a gold medal.

Never seen a sporting event over deliver, relative to its history, like the World Baseball Classic. @FOXSports Intensity, star power, drama. Has it all.

One factor: team USA is not unified the way the others are, just like in the Ryder Cup. The best players don’t always win.

Don’t know if I’ve ever seen better baseball than I have in the 2026 WBC - but also a maddening number of walks. And why didn’t Skubal come back for more? Still, Venezuela earned it. Hats off.

What’s true in fourth grade baseball is true in the WBC: walks are bad.

If there’s any concern over the pitch count for Paul Skenes, just remember he won’t pitch in another meaningful game until the 2030 WBC.
