The Oilers hammered opponents in March and have a chance to win the Pacific Division. One of the reasons for the success? More innovative breakouts, tighter coverage and fewer high-danger chances surrendered. Can the team sustain it? nytimes.com/athletic/71667…

@JenMN72 Haha. Great question. I think he's a smart coach, but like all coaches, stubborn. I wouldn't be surprised if the third and fourth line returned to 22 shared minutes at five-on-five (from the 24+ they're playing now). So, no. :-)

Oilers v Golden Knights with the best spot in Pacific Heights on the line. Plus, the last time the Oilers had this kind of depth scoring among forwards, Radek Dvorak was slumming with Raffi Torres and Jarret Stoll. lowetide.ca/2026/04/04/gol…

I think these weeks with Leon out of the lineup have once again highlighted that the deployment of the bottom six is problematic. They play enough averaging 22 minutes a night, but I think the usage of the top guys during power play and after a penalty kill means that the third and fourth line forwards are arrested too much and it’s more difficult for them to make a difference once they’re out there so my answer is yes I agree with you.

@Lowetide Do you worry we low the depth scoring when 29 returns and the coach overplays lines 1 and 2 ?

For the zero people wondering, ZiPS still projects Liam Hicks as 0.0% to win the Triple Crown.

I met Vic Rauter with my dad going to Jays in the summer of 78. My dad said, “Dave here wants to be a sports writer…” Vic was so kind to me, telling me not to give up on my dream. I’m 4ever grateful on the day of his retirement. The smile u pass on returns to you @TSNVicRauter
