On Wednesday, County Executive Aisha N. Braveboy joined the PGPD and our partner public safety agencies at the 48th Annual Public Safety Valor Awards Ceremony. Among those honored were 20 PGPD officers highlighted for exceptional, selfless, and courageous service. At the ceremony, Sgt. Katzenmaier was recognized as the 2025 Officer of the Year and Silver Medal Valor recipient, and Cpl. Allen was our 2024 Officer of the Year and a Gold Medal Valor recipient. In addition, multiple officers received Gold, Silver, and Bronze Medals. Thank you, officers, for demonstrating lifesaving actions and courage under pressure, exemplifying the highest standards of service in Prince George’s County.

This past weekend, our Community First Division hosted an Explorers Appreciation Ceremony to honor our Explorers, advisors, and their families for their hard work, commitment, and dedication to the program and community. 🙌   We were proud to welcome Deputy Chief Administrative Officer of Public Safety and Homeland Security MelvinPowell, Chief of Police George Nader and Assistant Chief George Nichols  — whose presence reminded us all of the importance of investing in and supporting our youth.    During the ceremony, one Explorer was recognized as Explorer of the Year, and another was promoted to Major within the Explorers program. Both reflect exceptional leadership, service, and commitment.   Join us in congratulating these outstanding Explorers on their well-deserved recognition!

FATAL COLLISION: Officers responded to the intersection of Landover Road and Martin Luther King Jr Highway at approximately 1:30 am for a single vehicle collision. The driver of the vehicle, an adult female, was pronounced deceased on scene.
