Weekly Crypto Recap | July 28 to August 3, 2026
The market closed out July rangebound and cautious heading into what is historically the weakest month of the year for crypto. July ended green for the third consecutive year but the gains are fading fast entering August. Here is your full weekly breakdown on BTC and the top 10.
BITCOIN (BTC) | Around $64,800
BTC opened the week near $64,689, briefly spiked to $66,921 mid-week, then pulled back hard after the Fed held rates unchanged and signaled a potential September hike.
BTC closed July around $63,000 to $64,000 and is now sitting below all major weekly EMAs. The 20-week EMA at $69,445 is the nearest ceiling.
The $60,000 to $62,000 band is the floor bulls must defend. July ETF inflows dropped 83% from their July peak, falling to just $33.79 million in the final week. Bitcoin dominance held steady between 59.1% and 59.6%.
The market is pricing in a seasonal pullback. August has closed red four years in a row with an average decline of 10%.
ETHEREUM (ETH) | Around $1,860 to $1,910
ETH was the top performer among large caps this July, up roughly 20% month over month versus BTC's 9%.
The ETH/BTC ratio broke above a multi-month descending channel for the first time in months. Corporate treasury demand played a key role as Bitmine holdings reached nearly 5.79 million ETH with 85% staked.
Despite the strength, ETH failed to hold the $2,000 level and closed the week around $1,860. ETF flows ran net negative around negative $69.7 million in the final week of July. The $1,800 level is now the line in the sand.
BNB | Around $586 to $592
BNB was the standout performer of the week among top 10 coins.
It was the only major holding a meaningful weekly gain, closing around $590 with a net bullish trend from its $568 open on July 26.
BNB's exchange utility and consistent token burn cycle continue to attract buyers even in risk-off conditions.
XRP | Around $1.06 to $1.10
XRP ended the week quietly near $1.07 to $1.10. Spot XRP ETFs gathered $1.37 billion in inflows over under 60 days which keeps long-term sentiment positive.
However, the CLARITY Act's odds of passage dropped to 37% on Polymarket this week after Senate shelving.
If the bill stalls before the August 7 recess, XRP could see short-term selling pressure. Support sits near $1.00.
SOLANA (SOL) | Around $72 to $75
SOL was down roughly 3% on the week, trading around $72 to $75.
Spot Solana ETFs have accumulated over $1.14 billion in inflows and the Alpenglow consensus upgrade remains the major fundamental catalyst on the roadmap.
Resistance sits at $83.75. Near-term macro pressure and the weak seasonal backdrop are weighing on price.
DOGE | Around $0.07
Dogecoin stayed flat and rangebound near $0.07 through the entire week.
X Money launched in the US this week but confirmed it will not integrate Dogecoin despite earlier speculation. That killed a short-term narrative catalyst.
No major catalyst visible near term.
ADA | Around $0.19
Cardano was one of the week's cleaner bright spots. ADA gained around 4% on July 31 and continues to trend higher relative to many peers.
Trading around $0.19 with the next notable resistance around $0.25. Longer-term accumulation zone for patient holders.
TRX | Around $0.33
TRON held steady near $0.33 with modest positive momentum. Low volatility, consistent stablecoin transfer volume, and ecosystem usage are keeping TRX supported while the broader market drifts.
AVAX | Around $6.53
AVAX remains one of the weakest performers in the top 10, down nearly 70% year over year.
Despite institutional catalysts like the VanEck spot AVAX ETF launch and Japan's Progmat migrating over $1 billion in tokenized assets to Avalanche, the price has not responded.
Fundamental divergence is real but sellers remain in control.
LINK | Around $8.25
Chainlink is trading around $8.25 with sellers staying active.
A break below $8.20 could open the door toward $7. LINK's performance is closely tied to overall DeFi activity and on-chain demand for oracle services, both of which are quiet heading into August.
Action Plan
The market is heading into August with weak seasonality, slowing ETF inflows, a hawkish Fed, and geopolitical uncertainty.
This is not a moment to chase pumps. The framework is simple. Protect capital, accumulate quality at key support levels, and watch the $60,000 to $62,000 BTC floor for any break lower.
ETH at $1,800, SOL under $70, and XRP under $1 are the accumulation levels analysts are watching.
The CLARITY Act vote before August 7 recess is the single biggest near-term catalyst. A pass changes everything. A stall adds more downside pressure across the board.
Stay patient. Stay level-headed. See you in the next recap.
