On Saturday, Cobra Company made their way along Route 547, where operations quickly led to heavy contact and multiple tactical engagements. Landing near a civilian village that had been overrun by PAVN forces, Cobra Company’s objective was to identify and recover hidden rice stores and weapons caches. As fire came from across the river cobra company had complete there first objective, the company encountered a heavily fortified position equipped with machine guns and defensive fortifications. Despite intense resistance, Cobra Company successfully fought through the enemy, secured the objective, and recovered all targeted supplies and weaponry. Their next task was to sweep and clear a large village occupied by PAVN forces and captured civilians. Using effective bounding movements and battle line tactics, Cobra Company pushed through the area, uncovering large stockpiles of artillery and weapons along the way. The objective was completed successfully with strong coordination and aggression throughout the operation. With a swift extraction, Cobra Company once again demonstrated excellent teamwork, discipline, and tactical effectiveness. Last Saturday, the 101st Airborne Unit continued operations during the Tet Offensive, conducting multiple air assaults beginning along Route 547. The mission objective was to push across the bridge, clear the surrounding area, and conduct further searches to locate and secure civilians who had been captured by PAVN forces. Cobra Company led the assault, engaging in several intense firefights and sustaining significant damage. Despite this, they successfully advanced through their first objective, clearing hill positions and heavily fortified gun emplacements. Following this, the unit was airlifted to the next landing zone (HLZ), where they encountered an enemy camp that had already been struck by aviation units. However, resistance remained active. The company continued their advance, pushing into a civilian village that had been overrun by PAVN forces. After further engagement, they successfully cleared the area and secured the location. On this weeks turn of events for the 101st airborne unit we started our display of air assaults. We had 3 Air assaults over 3 locations, with the sole aim to secure route 547. Our unit’s effort to recreate air assaults over Route 547 reflects a grounded appreciation of how contested segments of the Ho Chi Minh Trail functioned under constant pressure. By simulating helicopter insertions, strikes, and the difficult jungle terrain of southern Laos, your Vietnam-based milsim group effectively mirrors the tactical realities faced by both U.S. With our aviation units backing up the assaults, it gave everything a much more dynamic and realistic feel—similar to how operations played out along the Ho Chi Minh Trail. The 101st Airborne Division has now begun its counteroffensive during the Tet Offensive, starting with Operation Carentan. The first operation unfolded as follows: Cobra Company landed under intense fire from PAVN forces. Despite the heavy resistance, they successfully fought through the enemy and advanced toward their objective. Their mission was to secure and destroy two bridges that the PAVN were using to transport troops toward the city of Hue. Through effective coordination, including support-by-fire positions established by 3rd Platoon and the use of bounding techniques between platoons, Cobra Company successfully completed their objective. Following this, they conducted an air assault on their next objective, aiming to eliminate the remaining enemy forces occupying positions that had been used to maintain contact with the bridges. After a heavy engagement, and through effective teamwork, the platoons successfully cleared and secured the objective.
