Breaking new ground for better student living.
Today, we broke ground on the NextGen Hostel Residence at Yaba College of Technology and Lagos State University, a major step in improving how our students live, learn, and thrive.
This initiative reflects the Renewed Hope commitment of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, to strengthen education not just in classrooms, but across the full student experience. Because tertiary education goes beyond lectures and exams, it is also about the relationships, collaboration, and personal growth that happen outside the classroom.
With a 1,500 bed capacity and modern amenities including a gym, games room, restaurant, and canteen, this project is designed to provide a safe, vibrant, and conducive living environment.
Through this PPP with the Tertiary Education Trust Fund and private investors, we are reinforcing a simple truth, government cannot do it alone. Strategic partnerships are key to delivering the scale and quality our students deserve. The Federal Ministry of Education will also be investing 250 billion naira into the development of additional student hostels across over 90 institutions nationwide to further expand access and improve living conditions.
We have also directed all institutions to prioritise the use of their TETFund intervention grants for the rehabilitation of hostels, lecture theatres, halls, auditoriums, classrooms, laboratories, and the provision of WASH facilities. Compliance is mandatory, institutions that fail to align with this directive will not be eligible for funding.
To support this ecosystem, we are rolling out an additional 24 mini grids to ensure more reliable power supply across our campuses, and supplying an additional 540 9 seater electric tricycles to 36 schools, 15 per institution across 6 schools in each geopolitical zone, to support campus mobility.
Within the next 24 months, both @LASUOfficial and @yabatechng will be home to fully functional, modern student residences, built to support learning, community, and a better university experience.
We are not just building hostels, we are building a better future for Nigerian students.

On behalf of the Government and people of Lagos State, I express my sincere gratitude to His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Federal Executive Council for the approval of Phase 1A of the Lagos Green Line Rail Project.
This project is a significant milestone for our state. The Green Line will span approximately 68 kilometres, linking Marina to the Lekki Free Trade Zone, with about 17 stations serving key locations including Victoria Island, Ajah, and the wider Lekki corridor. It will serve up to 500,000 passengers daily at inception with the capacity to increase to about one million over time.
With the ability to move up to 35,000 passengers per hour in each direction, the line will reduce travel time and relieve pressure on our road network.
This project reflects our commitment to improving mobility, supporting economic growth, and enhancing the quality of life for Lagosians. We value the continued support of the Federal Government and remain focused on delivering a system that meets the needs of our people.

RT @NTANewsNow: 2027: Don’t Pull Down the Roof
By Senator Kashim Shettima, GCON
The political season is upon us again, and with it comes…

To answer the call of the people of Kosofe!
For some time now, the people of Kosofe have been calling for stronger representation! They have yearned for more, and today to answer that call , I took a definitive step on that journey of service by picking up the Expression of Interest and Nomination Form of our great party, the APC, to represent the good people of Greater Kosofe at the Federal House of Representatives.
And first point of call was to present the form to our revered Lagos East Senatorial GAC leader and apex leader of the Kosofe APC, Otunba Bushsura Adedeji Alebiosu “The Bush.” To seek his prayers and Support which were graciously given. His guidance and leadership continue to inspire the path we have chosen.
This is more than a political move: it is a call to serve. And to everyone who has trusted us over the years, I give you my word: that trust will never be taken for granted.
Our story has never been built on declarations or pledges alone, but on proven impact. The work done in previous offices speaks clearly: visible, measurable results that have touched lives and strengthened our communities. Now, we are ready to take that commitment even further.
Kosofe deserves more. Kosofe deserves stronger, smarter, and people-focused representation and that is exactly what we are stepping forward to deliver.
As we approach the primaries on the 15th of May, I am confident that the people of Kosofe will once again make their voices heard and entrust us with the mandate to represent them at the Federal House of Representatives.
It’s go time.
Mayor Dele Oshinowo is coming!
Stronger Representation; Stronger Kosofe!
