My personal Reflection💭 Last Friday, our season came to an end. For 12 straight weeks, this team never tasted defeat. I could not be more proud of what we accomplished together, and I know without a doubt that we will be back. I take special pride in this season because we built this brick by brick. When I took over in 2019, we had fewer than 50 kids in the program. We didn’t go recruit kids from other places. We developed our own, right here in Terrell, Texas. We didn’t get on social media to bash other coaches or programs. We stayed quiet. We worked. We developed. This year we are the district champs! We had 27 All-District selections. Which included the district MVP, Defensive MVP, OL MVP, Defensive Newcomer, 12 first Team selections, 7 second Team selections, 4 honorable mentions and we were selected as staff of the year! Some people will never understand the struggles we’ve endured, because they only see the polished product on Thursday and Friday nights. Some will never understand the battles we fight as head coaches. Some will never understand our journey, because they never bothered to ask or do their research. Some will never understand the scrutiny behind cryptic text messages, social media posts, or whispers behind closed doors, yet as the head coach, you’re still expected to stand tall through it all. Lead! Head coaching is not for the weak or faint of heart. You need thick skin. You must rise above the chatter and the silent shots thrown your way. I’m thankful to lead a program built on integrity, poise, pride, class, and discipline. One thing in life is certain: nothing is certain. But every time the sun rises, you can count on me to find a way for us to get better. Some say the competitive spirit can be blinding. But as a coach, and as a leader of young men, you must be willing to adapt, adjust, and block out the noise. Keep your vision pure. Stay true to your beliefs. And success will come when you do things the right way. As true as the ink on my arm! “We are NOT the Same!”

Reflection 💭 Love you Dad! Day in and day out, we try to be the role models young men need. And what better way to lead than this: every single day, I get to wake up and go to work with my father. Most people know he doesn’t say much. But the lesson he taught me, without many words, was simple and strong: Stand on your last name: SEDBERRY. A standard. A legacy. And I stand behind it with everything in me. It doesn’t matter if you’re rich or poor. It doesn’t matter the color of your skin. It doesn’t matter where you start. If you stand behind your name… If you protect it… Your name becomes your legacy.

Coaches Reflection 💭 THANK YOU!! For 15 straight weeks, you’ve sacrificed so much to pour into our program. Thank you for your diligence, your work ethic, and for taking a vision and bringing it to life throughout every corner of this program. Each of you played a major role in this year’s success. I want you to know that you are valued, and your hard work is truly appreciated. Take pride in what you’ve accomplished. Take the lessons we learned together as a staff and apply them not only to football, but to life. Today, I simply want to say thank you, for the time away from your families, the late nights, the long hours, the intense meetings, the endless film study, and the relentless commitment you showed to our kids and to each other. Your work does not go unnoticed. Thank you. You are appreciated!
