Yesterday’s ride around Lake Tahoe was a metaphor for life. Riders from every walk of life - ages 18 to 80, all ethnicities, all shapes and sizes - came together with a common purpose. Most rode 72 miles. Some pushed on to 100. We rode for causes bigger than ourselves: Blood Cancer United, Almaden, Sikh cycling groups, Viet Cycling, Alameda Police Unity, Sacramento Cycling, Asha, and many others. Along the way, local communities cheered us on, encouraging every rider to reach the finish line. And we did. Not because it was easy, but because we were riding for something that mattered. I feel incredibly blessed to have been part of this experience and to have made a memory that will stay with me for the rest of my life. Thank you, God.

They drained enormous amounts of wealth, crippled industries like textiles, imposed heavy taxes, and shipped India’s resources abroad while building up Britain’s own economy Millions died in famines under British rule, including the Bengal Famine. Hundreds of unarmed Indians were gunned down at the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre. Freedom fighters were jailed, tortured, exiled, and executed. Many people also faced pressure to abandon their traditions, culture, and beliefs under colonial policies and institutions Lancashire’s mills got rich. Indian weavers got ruined So yeah, pretending the British Empire didn’t profit from India is pure revisionist history. The loot was real The exploitation was real The suffering was real
