The Havertz vs Gyokeres debate! Tactics or Personel?

@Echoes_Highbury Mixture of both I can agree with. At this level completely disagree, he's done it in the CL for club, country at international level.

@gtalksarsenal We haven’t platformed him well enough, but how do you argue these stats and say it’s all on the tactics. It’s a mixture of both imo. But the basic fundamentals just aren’t there for gyok at this level and you can’t coach that.

@gtalksarsenal This is valid throughout a squad. Having two wingers in the same position doesn’t mean it’s one against another. It means rotation. Game specific tactics and options within games

It isn't Havertz vs Gyokeres for me anymore, in a squad you want options & alternatives. It should actually be a strength having two very different CF's. The issue I have is why we're unable to adapt the way we play to suit both Havertz and Gyokeres depending on who is playing!

I've seen grass roots coaches have multiple ways of setting up a team to play differently based on personel on the field. I mean his national coach and previous club coaches have managed.

@gtalksarsenal @Salibasexual02 Reality is there’s only certain quality / level u should expect a coach to work wonders with. Our whole philosophy especially this season is to be able play in any context to say a manager not adaptable kinda laughable to me.

@gtalksarsenal the fact that Gyökeres has scored the most for any striker under arteta says a lot despite him playing with less creativity behind him for most of the season compared to other strikers is huge credit to him

@gtalksarsenal It’s clearly the manager. If your players at the back are bad at building up from the back, find a solution or look for a tactic that will suit them. Instead of playing to a style that doesn’t suit a player whose best skillset is ball striking.
