I can confirm that I have received the documents containing detailed information on foreign nationals employed at South Africa's public universities.
According to the records, by 2025 there were more than 7,000 foreign academics employed across public universities, with Zimbabwean nationals accounting for 27% and Nigerians 14% of the total. The University of Johannesburg employed the highest number, with more than 1,400 foreign academics.
I am currently reviewing the extensive documentation and will publish a detailed article with a full breakdown soon.
Special thanks to Chairperson Hon. Letsie, MP, for authorizing the Secretary of the Portfolio Committee on Higher Education to share the documents, making this important information accessible for public scrutiny and reporting.

Dear Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Higher Education and Training, Hon Tebogo Letsie. [@LetsieTebogo] On 18 March 2026, Parliament asked South African universities to submit full lists of foreigners employed as academic staff due to concerns raised about hiring practices. As of today, 8 June 2026, it has been 82 days since that deadline. Kindly provide an update on whether institutions complied with the directive, and if so, how many foreign academics were identified across universities. Your response would be appreciated.

WhatsApp messages from 2021, which form part of documents before the Madlanga Commission, show Major General Feroz Khan drafting a series of questions that were later revised and incorporated into a letter sent by former EFF Member of Parliament Dr Mbuyiseni Ndlozi to the Minister of Police on 17 June 2021. The commission records indicate that the questions originated in Khan's WhatsApp exchanges before being adapted and submitted in official correspondence on EFF letterhead.

Madlanga Commission Evidence Shows Feroz Khan Drafted Questions About Convicted Drug Lord Timmy Marimuthu's Alleged Links to Crime Intelligence, Julius Malema Followed Up and Mbuyiseni Ndlozi Later Sent Them to Police Minister Bheki Cele
Major General Feroz Khan's WhatsApp conversations with Carnilinx tobacco company figure Mohamed "Mo" Sayed have emerged as part of evidence before the Madlanga Commission, showing Khan drafting questions that were later revised and formally submitted by former EFF MP Dr. Mbuyiseni Ndlozi to then Police Minister Bheki Cele. The exchanges form part of documents released from devices seized from Khan and made public through commission records.
A WhatsApp extract dated June 11, 2021, shows Sayed sending messages referring to a truck load and "Remington Gold Number 2 Mo" before Khan responded with a list titled "Questions for IG." Khan's draft asked whether Inspector-General of Intelligence Imtiaz Fazel was close to convicted drug dealer Timmy Mariemuthoo, whether he took instructions from him, what gratification he received, and how long he had allegedly been a captured public servant.
Further exchanges from the commission bundle show Sayed forwarding Khan a screenshot of a conversation involving EFF leader Julius Malema. Messages attributed to Malema included references to "Questions to Minister of Police" and a correction changing "drag" to "drug lord." Malema also asked, "When is it going to be fired off to them?" to which a response stated, "Tomorrow" alongside prayer emojis.
The records show Khan reacting positively to the developments, replying, "Excellent bro Thanks" and "Let's go to War." He also suggested corrections, stating, "They must fix up the spelling of Drug in paragraph 1," and later wrote, "Yes bro This should get him to lie And in return we can ask for his removal coz he lied." Additional messages exchanged between Khan and Sayed included personal remarks and expressions of support.
The questions later appeared in a formal letter dated June 17, 2021, on EFF letterhead and signed by Dr. Mbuyiseni Ndlozi. Titled "RE: QUESTIONS ABOUT MINISTER'S RELATIONSHIP WITH DRUG LORD TIMMY MARIMUTHU AND CRIME INTELLIGENCE MATTERS," the letter asked Minister Bheki Cele about any relationship with Timmy Marimuthu, discussions concerning Crime Intelligence matters, and allegations involving former President Jacob Zuma and Major General Khan.
The documents forms part of public court records linked to Khan's abandoned interdict applications. The Commission released the full bundle after Khan withdrew attempts to block access to the devices. Khan is expected to testify before the Commission from July 1, 2026, regarding these and other matters, including allegations relating to drug bust interference and gold dealings.

Dear Ngizwe Mchunu God has answered your prayers, get your lawyers ready! You have apologised. The EFF leader is linked to a cartel, he is more of a criminal than an ordinary South African citizen like you.
Your remarks didn’t have any proof, hence he has a case against you, you were just a punching bag he wanted to hit in order to relieve his stress. He is in hot water.
