You don’t have to agree with every conclusion ZachXBT has made to recognize the reality that he’s been massively net positive for this industry. The space is filled with hacks, phishing campaigns, rug pulls, insider games and people hiding behind pseudonyms while extracting from users. For years he has spent time tracing stolen funds, exposing scams, connecting dots onchain and putting information out in public that has helped countless people avoid getting burned. He has inspired many other researchers like us to work ethically on the same path that he paved. The bigger issue here is the precedent. If researchers who choose to operate ethically and investigate misconduct become targets themselves, that creates a chilling effect across the space. The message becomes: expose the wrong people and suddenly you become the next target. If you think someone’s investigation is wrong, Publish onchain evidence, Connect dots.
