A R120-million housing project in Ekurhuleni meant to house 450 families has been stalled since 2019. The project has been abandoned because the money has apparently ran out. David Motsamai was a wealthy Soweto bootlegger and businessman (known as "Oom Day") whose identity Nelson Mandela adopted as an alias in 1962 to evade arrest while traveling for Umkhonto weSizwe activities. Motsamai was a supporter and 1961 patron of Orlando Pirates Football Club and a founding member of the National Professional Soccer League. Mandela, a prominent Lawyer in the 1950s, previously represented Motsamai. When traveling through Africa and returning to South Africa in 1962, Mandela used a passport under the name David Motsamayi (or Motsamai). Mandela and Motsamai shared the same birth date (July 18th) but were born eight years apart (Mandela in 1918 and Motsamai in 1910). Motsamai maintained a "nouveau riche" status that allowed him to operate successfully despite apartheid restrictions. Pan-African Activist and Far-Right Leader, arrested in Pretoria, South Africa On 13 April 2026, outspoken Pan-African activist Kemi Seba, wanted in Benin for allegedly inciting rebellion linked to a failed Dec 2025 coup, was arrested in Brooklyn, Pretoria with his 18-year-old son and François van der Merwe, leader of far-right youth group Bittereinders. Police allege they planned to illegally cross into Zimbabwe and continue to Europe. Van der Merwe allegedly received R250,000 to assist. R318,000 cash was seized. Van der Merwe is also facing an ongoing Groblersdal case linked to assaulting a police officer and public violence. Both men have documented links to networks in Russia. All 3 remain in custody pending bail application on 29 April 2026.

If imprisoning the child rapists will cause the system to collapse, we should just collapse the system and build a new one without the child rapists having power, money, or authority.

Dear South Africans , On your left is Police National Commissioner General Masemola, accused of flimsy PFMA charges and appeared in court yesterday On your left , is Hangwani Maumela, Cyril Ramaphosa’s nephew accused of serious criminal offenses of which some led to the death of whistle-blower Babita Deokaran, who exposed corruption at Thembisa Hospital where Hangwani was making a fortune through tenders. He hasn't appeared before any court to date . We must put it out there that we are not scared of criminals. They might have killed Babita, but we will not be silenced by criminals, and they have declared war against us citizens. Bring it on ! ✊🏾

What irks me about all of this corruption is that South Africa isn’t so bad a country that you cannot earn a decent salary and live a comfortable life. People are stealing—and murdering— purely to ‘stunt on these hoes’. It’s beyond greed, it’s a malady.

Now suddenly the whole continent is against South Africa again. But instead of ganging up on us, why not reprimand your own countrymen? Tell them to respect South African laws. That's all we've ever asked.

I wish people held politicians accountable the same way they dragged an activist for old, foolish tweets. These leaders loot your hard-earned tax contributions, yet people are very lenient with them.

I never knew that simply being the quiet coworker who comes to work, does their job, minds their business, and avoids gossip could bother people so much.

MADLANGA COMMISSION | Commissioner Sesi Baloyi questions Brig Abraham Nkhwashu about Katiso “KT” Molefe’s refusal to acknowledge him as his brother-in-law. He responds, “Mr Molefe is a liar; I would rather believe what the officials are saying than him.”

UPDATE: Nkhwasu is asked what his relationship is with Omar’s Motors. He says a “business relationship”. Advocate Pooe asks about the consistent payments of R32k every month from Omar’s Motors into his bank account. He says it was for the sale of his vehicles which were “trade-ins”. Nkhwashu struggles to explain why it was monthly payments, as opposed to a lump sum - as is usual with trade-ins. Adv. Pooe says the Madlanga commission has been in discussions with the dealership - they’ve confirmed that Nkhwashu is the one who insisted on monthly payments.
