@CG00164620 @stats_feed Can you read captain? Nobody ever said "hey, Sweden became a problems-free country!". What alcohol and drugs have to do with the fact that they got rid of smoking?

🇸🇪 Sweden is now officially smoke-free! 🚬 The country has become one of the first in the world to reach this milestone, with regular smokers dropping from 16% in 2003 to just 4.8% in 2025. An incredible public health success.

@ObservationPos3 @stats_feed If you end up in a hospital with lung cancer or any other smoking-related illnesses your personal health becomes a public concern, since everyone is gonna be paying taxes for your care. Also, nobody wants to inhale your smoke, so unless you smoke in your house you're a problem.

@stats_feed Since when did my personal health become a public health concern? I can understand if the country in question offers comprehensive healthcare, but even so, I am totally not for government meddling in my personal affairs.

@chris_sutton73 The number of games Celtic won in the last 5 minutes or in injury time this season is insane, even worse than what usually is. I don't really care about this league but this must be one of the luckiest title ever in the history of the game.

@worldranking_ Happiest I don't know, but Finland (as a foreigner) is definitely up there. Far from perfect for sure, but can't really complain about too many things. I do like darkness and cold though, if I didn't it would probably be a different story.

FIFA has announced that Shakira, Madonna and BTS will headline the half-time show during the World Cup final on July 19. "It gives the fans what they want as we surely get to hear Shakira’s “Waka Waka”, the soundtrack of the 2010 World Cup, live. "It has been stuck in our heads for 16 years like the noise of those vuvuzelas and I’m OK with it." @SwoleBenjiYT @financedystop What is reasonable? If you don't know the cost of ingredients, labour and operating costs you can't know what is "reasonable". If you're comparing the prices to just raw ingredients from a grocery store then you're just plain dumb.

@financedystop Charge a reasonable price then. I'm not gonna pay $20 for two eggs, some hash browns, and 3 slices of fucking bacon. I know people that will, but I won't. Get fucked.

@MotiveXRP @financedystop So you think restaurants compete with grocery stores? You compare a meal cooked and served to you by pros with zero effort on your side to mediocre shit you can do yourself that requires you to shop, prep and clean after yourself? And you can't fathom why prices are different?

@financedystop Do restaurants know they have to compete on a daily basis with grocery stores who are 85% cheaper than a restaurant? And compete with other restaurants? Maybe lose the "customer is an unreasonable idiot" attitude. Yes, we can make food at home you moron, we don't *need* you.

@BuffChillin @financedystop Maybe you shouldn't compare a meal that requires you to shop, prep, clean pans, pots and after yourself for a mediocre result to a relaxing night out with better food and a dedicated service that only requires you to bring your ass to the restaurant?

@financedystop I get it. Prices for everything have skyrocketed. I just choose not to go very much because I refuse to pay $20 for a hamburger when I can cook my own for $2.

@ACABImmunity @financedystop If customers can't even understand that turning supermarket ingredients into elaborate food and then serve it costs a ton of money not much can be done to match their perceived value. It's their perspective that is wrong.

@financedystop He missing the point entirely. It’s about value. Notice he says nothing about input costs increasing and why that might be. He also doesn’t seem to understand that if people stop coming, he doesn’t have a business. The perceived value needs to match customers where they are.

@marrtw @financedystop Also comparing what you're cooking yourself and the stuff you get served in a restaurant should be easy. Plus the cleaning, the time and the usage of whatever appliances/utensils. People don't go to restaurants to feed themselves, but to enjoy a night out. That's not for free.

@financedystop From a business perspective, restaurants are the absolute worst. Why? Because, as he notes, the value proposition is a function of comparisons. And it's easy to compare restaurant food to grocery store food and think you're getting screwed.

@FtypeStelvio @financedystop Don't know if you've noticed, but there are a bunch of new wars that have been happening in recent times. When gas prices skyrocket everything in the industry costs more, from transportation to packaging. Restaurants need to pay more, customers need to pay more. Not that deep.

@financedystop But you aren't explaining why food in restaurants of all stripes is magnitudes more expensive than just 3-5 years ago. And on top of that why tips are routinely expected to be in the 20-30% range and more. I received a gift card from my auto dealership for $250 that won't feed 2

@financedystop has the logistics of running a restaurant ever changed? hasn't it always been this way? when people say it's expensive they're comparing it to other restaurants whose prices factor in those same exact things

@financedystop It’s weird that only some restaurants have this problem. Others are barely 10% more than they were 10 years ago. How are they making it? And maybe don’t leave “equipment” running all day?

@Account23413 @AgiRabbithole @financedystop Profit is what is left in the bank AFTER you pay the salaries and all the bills. The owner pays a salary to himself too, so it might even be that he pays himself a lot of money every month and he still makes some profit, you never know.
