X Life in 100 Days: A Reflection
These days, when I talk with fellow engineers in Silicon Valley, I’m constantly amazed. People all over the world are suddenly paying serious attention to semiconductors — studying hard and turning themselves into semi-experts.
A few months ago, I revived my long-dormant Twitter account and returned to X. My handle is @SVTrivo — “Silicon Valley Trivopaedia,” a name I created long ago to capture various stories from the Valley. I decided to keep it when I came back.
Upon returning, I struggled with what to post. Should I talk about the immigrant experience? The diverse food scenes in the Bay Area? Scenery, hobbies? Since I’m Korean, should I target Koreans? Or focus on local stories in English? I went through quite a few trials and errors.
Last year, while visiting my son’s university on the East Coast, a Korean student group asked me to give a talk. I politely declined, thinking that explaining semiconductors for an hour to liberal arts students wouldn’t be interesting or accessible for them. At the time, I felt my work was too specialized and narrow.
But after seeing the reactions here on X over the past year, my thinking has completely changed.
Recently, the asset that has risen the most globally is stocks — especially semiconductor stocks. Because money is on the line, many non-semiconductor professionals are now studying the industry seriously. That’s why I’ve decided to focus on timely stories: the technology behind semiconductor companies, the context behind stock movements, and deeper industry insights.
After studying electronic engineering and spending about 30 years solely in semiconductors, this is the first year I’m truly sharing this world with general audiences.
I initially tried various things to grow the account, but I’m now converging toward semiconductor technology, company updates, and industry trends. I’ll occasionally dive into deeper technical topics and see how much demand there is.
In the roughly 100 days since returning to X, I’ve seen so many real-time thoughts and the vivid diversity of people’s lives. Thanks to all of you, I now have over 13,000 followers who read, comment, and engage. I’m truly grateful.
Going forward, I want to reduce noise and deliver more focused, valuable content.
If you’re interested in semiconductors, AI hardware, and the future being shaped by technology, I’d love to grow together with you.
Thank you for your support!
