WATCH VIDEO | Minister appeals for calm as nurses escalate industrial action
Health Minister Douglas Mombeshora has acknowledged nurses’ grievances following reports of service withdrawals at some health institutions, confirming that the government received concerns raised through the Zimbabwe Nurses Association. He says authorities are engaging through formal channels as pressure mounts across the public health sector.
Mombeshora revealed that an extraordinary technical meeting between the Health Apex Panel and the Health Services Commission has been convened, with processes already underway to review the concerns in what he describes as a “structured and responsible manner” while maintaining critical health services.
Appealing directly to striking nurses, the minister said the government led by President Emmerson Mnangagwa remains committed to resolving the issues, urging health workers to suspend industrial action and allow space for dialogue in the interests of patients and the nation.
