I feel sick to my stomach waiting around today to see what atrocity Trump has in mind for the people of Iran this evening. It's hard to fathom that our other elected leaders aren't able to check him in any meaningful way. It's really an indictment not just of the electorate but of our whole system of government. We're ruled by a mad king.

This is a brazen pre-admission of genocide against the Iranian people, which would obviously be a war crime. Madness.

The integrity of the American electoral system has vanished. The two-party system led to a standoff which, over time, resulted in improper behavior on the part of party leadership of both the Democrats and the Republicans. Rather than recognizing his decline and allowing for an open primary, the Democratic leadership tried to retain the advantage of incumbency at all costs. Instead of encouraging Biden to Step down or at least announce his intention to vacate office after one term, they tried to slip a candidate in at the 11th hour without allowing the people of their own party to have a voice. I know many people in the Republican Party who were not big fans of the sitting president in his first term, And I know few Democrats who were thrilled at the selection of Harris simply because she was the sitting vice president. He's not untouchable. Congress just needs to do its job and remove him. That is the actual and proper constitutional solution to the problem.
