Dine-dashers who ran up a £540 bill at a steakhouse and then legged it without paying are being hunted by police. A group of people enjoyed a slap-up meal at Miller & Carter in Kettering on April 6 between 5pm and 7.10pm before calmly walking out leaving the £539.70 tab unpaid. Northamptonshire Police have now released CCTV images of the suspects and are appealing for anyone who recognises them to come forward. It’s the second time in weeks the same branch has been hit by dine-and-dashers. Anyone with information should call police on 101 quoting incident number 26000213409.

This is the sad reality of a normal day in the NHS. No strikes, No excuses. Yet we’ve got fully qualified doctors sitting unemployed while patients are left waiting 21 hours in A&E. Years of mismanagement and catastrophic workforce planning failure. What a betrayal to patients

The NHS is dreadful. Every politician treats it as sacred, but it's never there when you need it. Maddening.

I feel strongly about the state pension and the threats to it because for me how a society treats its elderly is indicative of whether or not it is a good, decent society. And as someone who has been a carer for two very dear elderly parents I’m incensed when I hear commentators or politicians say that the elderly are now a ‘burden’ that ‘we can’t afford’. Old people are never a burden. It’s corrupt politicians- and those who want us to callously cast the elderly aside - who are the problem.

UNLESS YOU ARE WILLING TO PICK UP A BADGE, PROTECT AND SERVE, TAKE THE CHANCE OF NEVER COMING HOME TO YOUR FAMILY, I SUGGEST YOU STOP CRITICIZING THOSE WHO DO AND BE THANKFUL FOR THEIR SERVICE.

My mum taught in state schools for nearly 50 years. She worked hard. Paid her taxes. Gave her life to other people’s children. Now, after a dreadful year of ill health, she has to be “sharp-elbowed” just to get basic care. Someone to clean her PEG tube. Someone to remove it, even though she hasn’t needed it for a month. Physio sessions she should have had a year ago. She said to me last night: “It's like you with your children. Why do you have to fight so hard for basic things like healthcare and education in this country?” That hit me. Because she’s right. In Britain today, people who have worked, paid in, raised families and played by the rules are treated as if they are asking for charity. They’re not. They’re asking for the country they helped build to keep its side of the bargain.
