The left has an antisemitism problem. This is bad not because the feelings of Jewish people deserve special consideration, but because it means we as a movement are failing to adopt a clear-headed critical analysis and instead indulge in irrational sentimentalism.

@lickeddrip @Grogposter @AndromedaPip Assuming you’re engaging in good faith, but I’m more referring to social oppression. The fact that white Jews are economically or structurally oppressed is silly, yes. But there are various forms of explicit or implicit othering that come with being Jewish in American society.

@Grogposter @AndromedaPip Like I don’t think people engage in outright holocaust denial or such, but growing up I do think some stereotypes (ie good with money, money hungry) are kind of borderline socially acceptable to joke about.

@Grogposter @AndromedaPip (Speaking as an American Jew here) I do agree it’s different. I think antisemetic bigotry has kind of always been somewhat socially accepted in a way that other bigotry hasn’t necessarily been, but the forms in which it manifests are oftentimes less overt. (1/2)

@Anphoria @ColeSandick this as a whole is kind of the problem with the abolish policing rhetoric (and many others). I agree crime enforcing != policing. However try explaining this to the average voter and they’ll look at you like a crazy person. It’s self destructive to run on this

@ColeSandick “Policing” only exists under bourgeois class rule. “Crime enforcement” isn't necessarily “policing,” and many confuse the two. This misdefinition causes issues, and most struggle to articulate the difference, like what you’ve, and others, have been doing.

Everyone is responding with “policing serves capital and white supremacy.” I already know that! Policing serves capital and white supremacy because America is *already* capitalist and white supremacist, not because the concept of policing itself is intrinsically reactionary.

The merits of defund/abolish aside, I simply reject the premise that opposing cops and prisons is this intractable part of socialism that we should or should not compromise on. All the way up until like 2019 the dominant Marxist stance on policing was one of relative neutrality.

The next President of Ukraine could be Budanov. A younger and perhaps more radical figure. Zelenskyy was elected when a big war with Russia was predicted by outliers, such as Arestovich. Z. has been doing a great job. Point is, the next UA president will not be softer on Russia.

@realjewishlarry They don't support Russia, they're just realists that understand the larger context of it, and that a Russia's "actions" are often reactions to the wests actions, and that demonizing and antagonizing Russia (which they've been doing for 70+yrs) ultimately created todays Russia.
