Let’s #FightTheBite! Mosquitoes lay their eggs in standing water. If you have a container full of water on your property after the recent rains, please empty it out. This simple action will help prevent the spread of mosquito-borne diseases like West Nile virus.

#SFDPH takes every opportunity to offer treatment to people who use drugs because treatment works.  Since San Francisco strengthened its safe use supplies distribution policy in 2025 under Mayor Daniel Lurie’s Breaking the Cycle initiative, our partner organizations providing naloxone and other supplies reported ~1,400 on-site treatment services, including starts for medications for opioid use disorder, contingency management, and counseling sessions with behavioral health clinicians.  Anyone who uses fentanyl or other opioids can call 888-246-3333 between 8am and midnight to get an immediate prescription for buprenorphine treatment.  Make the call to start your recovery journey today. #RecoveryIsPossible #LivingProofSF #WeAreSFDPH

Recovery is always the first option. Safe use supplies are essential for preventing the spread of diseases and reducing overdose risks — but no one receives them from a San Francisco-funded program without counseling and an offer of treatment. Since San Francisco strengthened its safe use supply distribution policy last year to include counseling and proactive connections to treatment, we have recorded an ~1,200 connections to treatment programs, not including people who received on-site care. City contractors are not permitted to distribute smoking supplies in public spaces Find out more about San Francisco treatment and recovery services at ow.ly/GJIR50Yzsyx. #RecoveryIsPossible #LivingProofSF #WeAreSFDPH

Staying healthy matters every day — and small actions can help protect our whole community. 🤧 Cover your cough or sneeze. 😷 Wear a well-fitted mask in crowded indoor places. 🧼 Wash your hands often with soap and water. 💦 Clean frequently touched surfaces. 🛌 If you’re feeling sick, take time to rest and recover at home. These simple steps support your well-being and help keep others safe, too — today and all year long.

Every death from overdose is unacceptable and preventable. Data released today show that 43 people died of overdose in San Francisco in February, bringing the preliminary total for 2026 to 97. While this represents a 27% decrease compared to the same time last year, it is not a victory. Each loss is profound and our work continues with urgency. #SFDPH is working diligently to connect people who use fentanyl and other opioids to effective treatment and supporting them in their recovery. Our goal is clear: lasting stability and sustained recovery for every individual who needs our help. Call us any day of the week at 888-246-3333 to speak with an addiction care provider, access immediate treatment, prescriptions, and begin inpatient or outpatient care. #RecoveryIsPossible #LivingProofSF #EndOverdoseSF
