“I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo. "So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.” ― J.R.R. Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Ring

This is the Amargosa River watershed east of Oasis Valley, Nevada and by this time next year, NV Energy plans to have new roads and dozens of 180 foot power poles for the Greenlink West Transmission Project.

No surprise that the solar developer that is bulldozing 4,200 Joshua trees off the Aratina Solar Project in Boron, CA requested that the BLM Western Solar Plan remove "Occupied habitat for threatened and endangered species" from exclusion to solar development in 11 states.

BLM's Western Solar Plan is not a balanced clean energy approach. It's a sacrifice of remarkable desert lands that'll fuel the fire of the extinction crisis. Canals, rooftops, parking lots, phased-out alfalfa fields--cover all that w panels before you blade our precious deserts.

This bristlecone pine may have been perched on this spot, overlooking an open valley of sagebrush, juniper, grouse, pronghorn antelope, wolves, rattlesnakes, and deer for 4,000 years. Are we now going to bulldoze all that for industrial solar, with panels that will last 25 years?

This is insanely indefensible. Just rampant environmental destruction being passed off as “green.” This has to be stopped.

If we fill valleys like this with industrial solar, we destroy them forever. These are not wastelands. If you lack the taste to appreciate them, stay in your cities. But let these places be.

Construction of the museum is expected to start no later than February 2027 and is estimated to generate $191 million in economic activity for Las Vegas (including $80 million in wages). The preliminary concept design for the future Las Vegas Museum of Art is provided by Kéré Architecture.

64,000 acres of public lands are being targeted by the BLM for solar sacrifice in Esmeralda County, Nevada. Several diverse arid habitats, wildlife, rare plants and outstanding archeology sites would be lost for 7 solar projects. Comments due by 10/24. eplanning.blm.gov/eplanning-ui/p…
