In NSW, Endeavour Energy has won approval from the regulator for a 11% increase in average network costs for 2026-27 while Ausgrid charges will rise by 9.5% for the same annual period for a residential flat rate tariff. Network charges will rise by more than 11% in areas of Queensland, again on an average basis. A giant pipeline of expensive transmission projects have added to the tally, while state-based schemes to boost renewable energy supplies contributed to the cost crunch. Authorities conceded last year the cost of overhead transmission line projects had ballooned by up to 55% , with substations rising as much as 35%.
