With support from the Governments of Denmark, Italy, Norway, Sweden, and Switzerland, under the UN Joint Programme on Urban and Rural Resilience, UNICEF restored essential water and sanitation services in Jibreen area, Aleppo Governorate. Through the rehabilitation and replacement of damaged sewage systems, 500 people now have access to safe sanitation, reducing serious health and environmental risks. At the same time, the restoration of drinking water pipelines is improving access to safe and reliable water for nearly 8,000 people, including children.

last week, together with EU Humanitarian Aid (ECHO) colleagues, we visited Aleppo to observe firsthand the impact of emergency cash. In homes and community centres, mothers and caregivers told us how this support helps them put food on the table, get healthcare, and give their children stability, Our action goes beyond meeting immediate needs – it also links families to essential services that help children grow, be protected and be healthy. With so many in Syria still struggling to access basic services, this partnership is making a real difference in reaching the most vulnerable. It shows how sustained collaboration can change the lives of children and their families for the better. Cash assistance and referral to available services are essential to reach more vulnerable families and ensure that children can access the services they need. #EUCivilProtection #ForEveryChild @eu_echo @UNICEFmena @RelanoMeritxell @UNinSyria

Join us in amplifying the voices of women leading change in their communities. With the generous support of the Republic of Korea, 25 women completed a six-day training at Kiswah health centre in Rural Damascus, designed to strengthen care for mothers and newborns. Participants from Kiswah and surrounding areas gained practical skills to conduct home visits, provide counselling, and support pregnant and breastfeeding women with essential health guidance. As part of this initiative, UNICEF trained 25 health workers as trainers and 100 women volunteers across Rural Damascus, Dar’a, Deir-ez-Zor and Idlib to support pregnant and breastfeeding mothers and newborns at the community level. Through this work, UNICEF is strengthening primary healthcare links and helping ensure healthier starts in life for children across Syria. It has been more than 100 days since the first case of Cholera in Angola. The most affected age group is children between the ages of 2 and 5, followed by the 10—to 14-year-old age group. Let's save lives!

In 2023, which image of your work inspires you the most? If I had to choose, it will be this group of young children & people with different types of disabilities. Their engagement with parliamentarians and @masfamu for inclusion. For every child, a fair chance… @UNICEF

Yesterday was #WorldPolioDay. Nothing fills me with more pride than seeing our @UNICEF staff going through the extra mile to leave no child behind. When #polio will be history, we will remember those who made history.

What did #Angola do to get off the list of ten countries with highest number of zero-dose children in the world? Remarkable stories of political will and committed health workers. @UNICEFAngola… leaving no zero-dose children behind. @unicef shar.es/afFtCZ
